The shading proved to be a little tricky because of the angle of the light source but I think the overall effect is promising. This is the original piece:

It was too pixellated to convert into vectors but I think it looks cool like this!

Not going to plan

After the stairs image, I did a sketch of a girl enjoying her music on the stairs:

After this initial sketch I did another image to work out the details of the piece. After completing the first version I found some mistakes so I edited the image. Sadly no matter how much I edited I was not happy with the image. This happens from time to time so I've decided to go back to the begining and start a fresh. Here are the 'rejects' for you viewing pleasure:

So while my desktop is still suffering from a lack of a graphics card, here's a little something I pieced together with some very basic programs! :)
